چکیده

The temperature-dependent infrared properties of θ-(BEDT-TTF)2RbZn(SCN)4 were investigated. In the temperatures above the metal-insulator (M-I) transition, the optical conductivity remains finite in the low energy region, but shows no conventional Drude feature typical of metals. Below the M-I transition temperature, the low-energy spectral weight is significantly reduced. An opening of optical gap at about 300 cm is observed clearly in the polarization parallel to the donor-stacking direction. Analysis of both the electronic and vibronic spectra suggests a redistribution of charges in ET molecules as temperature decreases across the M-I transition, providing strong support for the charge-ordering state at low temperatures.

Theory of Photoinduced Phase Transitions in Molecular Conductors: Interplay Between Correlated Electrons, Lattice Phonons and Molecular Vibrations

Dynamics of photoinduced phase transitions in molecular conductors are reviewed from the perspective of interplay between correlated electrons and phonons. (1) The charge-transfer complex TTF-CA shows a transition from a neutral paraelectric phase to an ionic ferroelectric phase. Lattice phonons promote this photoinduced transition by preparing short-range lattice dimerization as a precursor. M...

Infrared and Raman Studies of Charge Ordering in Organic Conductors, BEDT-TTF Salts with Quarter-Filled Bands

This paper reviews charge ordering in the organic conductors, β′′-(BEDT-TTF) (TCNQ), θ-(BEDT-TTF)2X, and α-(BEDT-TTF)2X. Here, BEDT-TTF and TCNQ represent bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane, respectively. These compounds, all of which have a quarter-filled band, were evaluated using infrared and Raman spectroscopy in addition to optical conductivity measu...

Observation of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state in the quasi-two-dimensional organic superconductor κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2 Cu(NCS) 2. Abstract Single crystals of the layered organic type II superconductor, κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2 Cu(NCS) 2 , have been studied in magnetic fields of up to 33 T and at temperatures between 0.5 K and 11 K using a compact differential suscep-tometer. When the magnetic field...
